About Woodcrest Hills

Woodcrest Hills is a peaceful community in the Rancho Penasquitos region of San Diego, California. Because of its location in the hills, residents have spectacular views of the ocean.

The San Diego Unified School District is the second largest in the state. Students attend many highly ranked facilities like Hage Elementary School, Wangenheim Middle School, and Scripps Ranch High School. There are hundreds of private institutions like the Calvary Christian Academy, Escondido Adventists Academy, the Montessori American School, and Halstrom Academy. Public universities include the University of California (UCSD) and San Diego State University (SDSU) as well as the San Diego Community College District.

Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve covers seven miles and about 4,000 acres of canyons. It is one of the United States’ largest parks of its kind. Other recreation venues in this region include Black Mountain Open Space Park, PQ Skate Park, the Canyonside Recreation Center, the Hilltop Recreation Center, and the Twin Trails Neighborhood Park. Miramar Lake offers fishing, boating, and picnicking. There is also a trail that is five miles long and wraps around the lake. Visitors enjoy the panoramic views of the northern communities, Miramar, Mira Mesa, and University City.

There are several golf venues but to the north you will find the Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club. Besides practice facilities and a fully equipped golf shop, this club features a Ron Fream course. Banquet facilities as well as a bar and restaurant are available.

San Diego is California’s second largest city and the nation’s eighth. Its economy relies on tourism, manufacturing, international trade, and military defense related activities.
